These World Heritage Cities have a combined population of 125 million. Located in Québec City, the OWHC encourages cooperation and the exchange of information and expertise among historic cities. Its initiatives include strategies which address the development and preservation of historic sites. Lee Minaidis, Interim Secretary General says, "The OWHC is pleased to support OUR PLACE… we are convinced that the world heritage cities network can help with this project (as) this contribution will make it possible to promote world heritage while raising awareness of the conditions of conservation and the importance of ensuring the preservation of the sites". 19 January 2009
